Co-Weds
The Co-Weds Fellowship Group is made up primarily of retired senior citizens associated with the Church of the Good Shepherd. Membership numbers about 65-70, with 40 to 50 attending the monthly dinner meetings.
History
Co-Weds was organized in 1950 for young married couples with children under 6 years. They have grown older together. Many of the original members are now single. New couples and singles are always welcome. An elected cabinet and appointed committee chairs lead the group.
Purpose
Our purposes are:
A. To promote fellowship, friendship, and service to the church;
B. To welcome everyone who has attended three regular Co-Weds meetings to join and enjoy Christian fellowship, good food, and a little work.
Outreach Activities:
Union Station
Once each year, several of the Co-Weds volunteer to prepare and serve lunch to homeless people at Union Station in Pasadena. Our date is usually the third Sunday in November.
Workday at the Church
Once a month the several members of Co-Weds help out with repairs to the church and grounds.
Greeters/Coffee hosts
Every Sunday in June and December, several Co-Wed members greet parishioners as they arrive at the eight o’clock and ten o’clock worship services. They also serve coffee and juice after the services
Monthly Meetings:
Dinner
Co-Weds hold a monthly dinner meeting at 6:15 p.m. on the third Tuesday each month in Jordan Hall. The meal is catered, but about eight Co-Weds are the dinner committee that decorates and sets up tables, and assists with serving and cleanup. Random seating allows members to visit with different dinner partners each month.
Program
Programs after the dinner are varied, e.g., speakers, slide shows, or musical entertainment.
