Youth

At Church of the Good Shepherd, Youth are an integral part of the life of the congregation.  As such, many programs are available for young people to participate in, including Bible Study, musical groups, dramatic presentations, and missions.

Youth Mission Statement

We, the 'Y' of the UMYF, feel that our group should create a positive environment where different types of youth can be accepted, enabled to learn about themselves, while learning about Christ and making a positive difference in our community, and having fun doing it.

Activities

  • Sierra Service Project - The Sierra Service Project sends our youth to distant places to help nurture those far less fortunate than ourselves.
  • Fellowship and good times are memories UMYFers will have all their lives.
  • Summer Camps
  • Working together to help others builds strong, lasting friendships and teaches the importance of service to others.
  • The annual "Beach Retreat" is a time for planning a new year, but also a time to get reacquainted.
  • Halloween Parties
  • Snow retreat
  • Junior UMYF has games, talk and good friendship (for youth in 6,7,8th grades)
  • Pasadena District sponsored activities

United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)

UMYF weeks to be an avenut of support and friendship for the youth of our congregation and is unique in its ability to provide a healthy, open and loving Christian environment for young people as they make new friends and face the tough personal, family and faith issues that are a part of their teenage years.
