Groups

Group participation has a long and honored tradition in the Church of the Good Shepherd.  The first group, the Wesleyans, was suggested by Mrs. Hildebrand, the first minister's wife, for couples who still needed babysitters.

Nothing has changed, and as each group has watched its children grow, new groups formed to meet members' needs.  A fellowship group for nearly all of our church family meets during the month and new members are always welcome.

Besides meeting for dinner fellowship, each group has a long tradition of helping the church with labor and gifts.  during the year, groups host the coffee hour, greet members to Sunday services and become active members in church committees and work areas.

Many activities are available to members.  The quilters, who make and auction their beautiful creations, the crafters who create a wide range of handmade gift items, a writers' group who learn the fine art of telling their life's story or the story of their family, and a new Scrapbooking group, working together to take their photos and turn them into personal family albums and gifts for others.

Ever aware of members' needs, new groups are formed when  members express and interest and need.  The importance of our fellowship groups is that they give our church family an opportunity to learn more about the work of the church and to participate where their gifts are needed to ensure the vibrancy and spiritual life of the church for many years to come.

Lifelong friendships are formed with individuals and couples - come and join us - there's always room for more.
